My child has been diagnosed with ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, what is the best treatment option?

 

The most effective treatment for children with autism is a quality Applied Behavior Analysis program that is implemented between 30-40 hours per week. There are also other treatment options that can occur within ABA program such as speech therapy and occupational therapy, depending on the needs of the child.

 

 

What is ABA therapy?    

 

Applied Behavior Analysis is the scientific study of behavior. Behavior analysts focus on the observable relationship of behavior to the environment, including antecedents and consequences, without resort to"hypothetical constructs". By functionally assessing the relationship between a targeted behavior and the environment, the methods of ABA can be used to change that behavior.  

 

 

How many hours per week of therapy does my child need?

 

The number of hours your child requires will depend on how far behind they are in certain skill areas. Our clinical directors will complete an initial assessment an make recommendation on how many hours of therapy your child should receive based on the reslults. The intensity of services can be adjusted as the child gains new skills and is re-evaluated routinely throughout your the treatment.

 

 

How long are therapy sessions?

 

Sessions range anywhere from 2-4 hours in length. Therapy sessions are typically not scheduled for less than 2 hour periods after the initial assessment is completed.
